Thank you for your interest in Black Herefords and our cattle. We feel that Black Herefords offer the commercial cowman another option to utilize in a crossbreeding program, while keeping the cattle black hided like the industry demands.
We have a low input, real world, working man's environment. If it's time to plant or combine, the cows are on their own. We don't have a lot of room or extra time to spare to pamper the cattle, so they are in their working clothes-what you see is what you get. We do not creep feed, as this masks the cow's milking ability. Weaning usually takes place after harvest (this year the middle of November), so our bulls won't be as big or pushed as hard as other bulls out there. Being developed slowly, on a high roughage ration, these bulls should be able to go out and last a long time for their new owners. No over-fed, fat show bulls here that "melt" or "fall apart" when you take them home.
Starting our Black Hereford herd in 2006, we have made steady progress in developing cattle for the commercial cattleman. Our bulls are reasonably priced and affordable. Also, we have a varied selection: from calving ease, low birth weight bulls, to top end growth and performance bulls, along with both polled and horned genetics.
With record high cattle prices, it is an exciting time to be in the cattle business. I can't help but think that the cattle prices will remain strong for several years to come. People love to eat BEEF! I know we sure do!!!
